Well, it was better than I had thought it would be.  The cinematography/editing was really well done and added to the tension and pacing of the film, particularly at the beginning.  It got bogged down in the middle with a meandering story involving a one-dimensional British hippie family but (in a stroke of real genius) the finale was filmed in a dilapidated Brothers Grimm amusement park in Germany; it was exactly the right level of surreal and creepy.  Also, the soundtrack was brilliant: both the Chemical Brothers’ score and the hodge-podge of other types of music and sounds.  Saoirse Ronan has talent and brought some depth to the title character.  However, the usually brilliant Cate Blanchett nearly drowned beneath her unbelievably heavy-handed Southern accent.
