A New Meme for McCalin

September 15, 2008 at 8:37 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments

“Don’t make me angry.  You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”

It looks like the McCalin celebrity death-match tag team have managed to piss off the press.  Check out this week’s headlines (located on a great post by Chris Carlson who gets all the credit for the research):

NY Times: McCain’s Barbs Stirring Outcries as Distortion

Washington Post: McCain Wraps Distortions around One Truth

Seattle Times: McCain Lambasted for Inaccuracies

Dallas Morning News: Fact Check: McCain and Palin on Earmarks

All of these articles, along with others in the LA Times and SF Chronicle, call McCalin out for lying.  And courtesy of Markos himself here and here, add to that the fact that the Republicans are joining in on calling out his lies (I am not even shitting you):

Karl Rove said that McCain’s comments “don’t pass the 100% truth test:”

Megyn Kelley on Fox News grills the Fucker who knows no Bounds and asks him “Why wouldn’t John McCain just level with the American People?”:

Even Mitt Romney thinks his recent lies are reprehensible:

Ouch.  Team Maverick can’t afford for this story to stick.  Will it?

  1. Yikes– I hadn’t heard that Romney quote yet. Was he talking about the kindergarden sex-ed claim?

Here’s one more for you. I found it on TPM tonite. Apparently columnist Richard Cohen, a former McCain admirer, has *really* been disillusioned:
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/15/AR2008091502406.html?hpid=opinionsbox1

The column is entitiled “The Ugly New McCain” .. here is some:

“Following his loss to George W. Bush in the 2000 South Carolina primary, John McCain did something extraordinary: He confessed to lying about how he felt about the Confederate battle flag, which he actually abhorred. “I broke my promise to always tell the truth,” McCain said. Now he has broken that promise so completely that the John McCain of old is unrecognizable. He has become the sort of politician he once despised….
McCain has turned ugly. His dishonesty would be unacceptable in any politician, but McCain has always set his own bar higher than most.”

  2. I hope this meme does stick, because you know more lies are on the way. If this meme sticks, it will hopefully innoculate Obama from the desperate 11th hr stuff that is on the way. Or *maybe* just *maybe* McCain will be shamed by his old friends in the press from continuing down this road. Don’t hold your breath though.
