Importantly, it gives voters who are uncomfortable with Obama an easy (and easily defensible) reason to vote against him. But the dynamics of this election are, I think, very similar to those of 1992. Undecided voters will think about how they would feel when the headline reads "McCain Wins!" ... and choose Obama. The only way McCain actually wins is by making Obama as scary as Bush made Kerry. Celebrities aren't scary. I think it will be very effective.
